Hearland Flax logoFlax and Flax Oil are Now Available to HFI Customers

Healthy Food Ingredients (HFI) announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Heartland Flax, a leading manufacturer of flax and flax oil based in Valley City, ND. The transaction expands HFI’s existing product portfolio of non-GMO, organic, certified transitional, gluten-free, and identity preserved ingredients, including pulses, grains, seeds, soybeans, expeller oils, and signature products Suntava Purple Corn® and AncientGrispsTM.

Heartland is the fourth brand to join the HFI family, which also includes SK Food International, Hesco/Dakota Organic Products, and Suntava, which HFI acquired in late 2015. Like other brands in the HFI family, Heartland will operate as a brand of HFI, continuing to use the Heartland Flax name.

Brad Hover, HFI CEO, says the company will expand on what Heartland does best. “Heartland Flax is a well-known, reputable brand with innovative processing capabilities. Similar to our previous acquisitions, it will help us further increase consumer access to foods that are healthy, organic and not genetically modified.”

Heartland Flax offers a unique 5-log micro-reduction process in an allergen-free GFSI facility. It also has capabilities in ancient grain processing and retail packaging, along with climate-controlled warehouse facilities. Luther Dietrich, Heartland Flax president, said the acquisition will bring added value to Heartland customers. “We’re excited to provide more solutions to customers who have multiple ingredient needs.”
